This is Not Goodbye

Dearest America,

It has been an ecstatic ride, a privilege of sorts, and a wonderful experience, but the time has come for us to say goodbye. We always knew this place is merely another train-stop in our journey, which began more than 3,300 years ago with Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt and towards the promised land, the motherland, our home, the land of Israel.

We are not leaving you forever and the good people of this good-natured country, whose legal foundations are based on kindness, freedom for all G-d’s creatures, protection of human rights, peace and unity for all, holds a special place in our hearts.

We will forever be grateful for all your goodness & kindness you displayed all religious peoples, but especially those of us who were beaten and chased, imprisoned, and expelled, gassed and burned in other countries. We were speechless and will be forever grateful for the kind treatment displayed to us.

Thank you for letting us strive and prosper in this great country and we cannot thank you enough for letting us serve G-d, the one and only, so freely and openly.

We will be taking the American flag with us and raising it in our hometown Jerusalem in your honor.

You are blessed. You are kind. You are great.

We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

This is [not] goodbye,

Your grateful and humble friends,

The Jewish People
